Vehicle Gifting Nomination

Prerequisites + Process

Approved nonprofit representatives (inquire here) can nominate an individual (18+ years old) who is:

● Substantially engaged with their organization and in good standing
● Demonstrating significant determination, resourcefulness, resilience, and momentum towards their goals
●
Able to provide verifiable employment/income for managing auto-related expenses

A completed nomination form does not guarantee vehicle gifting. Nominees should continue seeking solutions for their transportation needs after completing the nomination form. There are more nominees than vehicles available, and not all nominees will be offered a vehicle for consideration. Generous Jalopy may meet with the nominee to discuss transportation circumstances and share information about community transportation resources. If a suitable vehicle becomes available, the nominee will be notified.

Pre-Nomination

Before completing the form below, the nominee will:

1. Meet the prerequisites noted above.

2. Pay any outstanding tickets and fees that prohibit licensure or vehicle registration, if applicable.

3. Obtain/hold a valid WI driver’s license.

Nominating representative organizations must validate items above PRIOR to nomination.

Pre-Delivery

If we can obtain a vehicle, the nominee will have 30 days to:

1. Obtain funds for DMV fees (up to $285 for title, registration, wheel tax).

2. Establish and maintain auto minimum liability coverage insurance according to WI law.

3. Provide a copy of valid driver’s license and insurance card; verify funds will be provided before/on delivery day in cash.

Delivery Day

After completing pre-delivery items, the nominee will:

1. Bring driver’s license, insurance card, and DMV fees (cash) to a 1-hour meeting at the nominating nonprofit.

2. Become familiar with the vehicle, maintenance needs, and budgeting materials.

3. Complete DMV + Generous Jalopy paperwork to take ownership of the vehicle. Drive safe!
